The goal and its aims are to promote Humanistic Buddhism around the world by the four founding principles:
-To propagate Buddhist teachings through cultural activities.
-To nurture talents through education.
-To benefit societies through charitable programs.
-To purify human hearts and minds through Buddhist practices.
Brief History
The BLIA (Buddha’s Light International Association) was initially formed in Taiwan on February 3, 1991 in response to the needs of local lay Buddhist practitioners, the BLIA Taiwan gradually gained recognition overseas. Subsequently, "Buddha's Light International Association" was officially inaugurated in Los Angeles, California on May 16, 1992. One year later in 1993, Dallas YAD was formed to educate the younger generation of temple goers about Buddhism.
BLIA Dallas YAD was established in 1993 as a young adult group dedicated in helping out the community, the temple, and teaching the younger generation about Buddhism.
What does YAD Stand for? YAD stands for Young Adult Division and are comprised of members ranging from 15-35 years of age. Dallas YAD currently has 38 members and we are still growing! Contact us if you would like to be a part of this great organization!

Mission Statement
Our mission is clear: to better our community and ourselves through influence of Buddhism, not to mention having some fun along the way. While practicing compassion and wisdom, we will live a meaningful life and gain valuable experience and knowledge from each other. Our goal within the first years of our renewed organization is to make new friends, tolerate and respect each other's ideas and opinions. Participating in activities and developing the teamwork factor is key to our success, so grab a friend and together we will learn through our peers on what Buddhism and hard work truly means. Forget point systems and probation, if you're willing to help for the good of the temple and yourself we welcome you. We look forward to seeing you at the temple and hopefully in our organization, and as for current members, keep up the great work!
